The Deer Park Service Department is staffed by 5 full-time dedicated employees including the Foreman and provides a wide variety of services to our community.  The Service Department is responsible for the general maintenance of all city owned properties; roads, buildings, vehicles and public grounds.

Maintaining the 19 miles of city streets includes painting streets and crosswalks, pot hole repairs, maintaining street signs, sidewalk and curb repair, repairing storm sewers, cleaning and maintaining catch basins, snow removal and fall leaf collection.

The Service Department also maintains Chamberlin Park and all public grounds; cutting grass, ball field maintenance, landscaping and planting trees.

Building maintenance and janitorial services to all public buildings and preventive maintenance of our vehicle fleet are important services completed in-house by our service department.

Leaf Collection Program

Leaf collection takes place during the fall months, usually October 15 – December 15.  Each year, our service crews pick up approximately 2000 cubic yards of leaves.

Leaves should be placed at the curb, not in the street.  In order to prevent injury to machine operators and damage to equipment, leaves must be free of brush, vines, and foreign debris.

After the regular leaf collection period, any remaining leaves should be placed in bags or cans and put out for pick-up on your regularly scheduled garbage day.
